Single On Valentine S Day

Just because you”re single on Valentine”s Day doesn”t mean that you can”t have fun. In fact, not being in a relationship means that you can design your own perfect day! Whether you choose to spend the day with friends, family or alone, Valentine”s Day commemorates love and, therefore, is a time for you to celebrate yourself and appreciate who you are.

Be Your Own Valentine!

On Valentine”s Day,rather than trying to find a date, why not be your own Valentine? If you have been saving up for something, Valentine”s Day is the time to splurge. Go ahead and treat yourself! Here are few ways you can pamper yourself on Valentine”s Day:

  • Buy yourself a nice piece or jewelry or a new outfit.
  • Enjoy a day at the spa.
  • Get a haircut.
  • Splurge on a manicure and pedicure.
  • Treat yourself to a mini vacation. You could go on a road trip and stay at a quaint bed and breakfast or spend the day sightseeing around your own town.

Free Valentine”s Day Ideas for Singles

Treating yourself on Valentine”s Day doesn”t mean you have to spend a lot of money. In fact, there are some fun and free activities you can enjoy by yourself on Valentine”s Day. Here are just a few:

  • Go for an early morning jog.
  • Let yourself sleep in on Valentine”s Day.
  • Relax in a hot bubble bath.
  • Spend the afternoon reading a favorite book.
  • Spend the day in a local park.
  • Take the day off work!

If you want to do something nice for yourself but don”t necessarily want to spend a lot of money, you can still enjoy Valentine”s Day. Here are a few inexpensive treats:

  • Adopt a pet from the animal shelter. Not only will you get a companion but you”ll provide a loving home to an animal in need!
  • Buy yourself a new book or CD.
  • Get a bottle of champagne and watch your favorite movie at home.
  • Send yourself flowers. As roses tend to be expensive around this holiday, opt for a bouquet of wildflowers or other less-expensive flower.

Go Out on Valentine”s Day!

Being single on Valentine”s Day doesn”t mean that you have to stay in. In fact, many bars and clubs hold events specifically for singles on Valentine”s Day. Speed dating events, singles dances and wine-tasting parties are just some of fun ideas for singles.

If you want to go out and have a fun night on the town, check your local paper to see what events are being held for singles.

Planning a Singles Event for Valentine”s Day

Another possibility for singles on Valentine”s Day is to host a party. Invite your friends and/or family over for a Valentine”s Day extravaganza. Here are some fun ideas:

  • Have a game or movie night. Depending on how large of a party you are holding, you can have each person bring over her favorite game or movie.
  • Hold your own wine-tasting party. Have each of your guests bring her favorite bottle of wine. If you are feeling especially creative, you can make cards for each person on which they can rate each bottle. Be sure to offer appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks for your friends and family.
  • Host a dinner party or a potluck in which each guest brings his favorite dish. You can set up all of the dishes as a buffet and let your guests mingle.
  • Plan a theme party in which all guests have to dress up according to a specific theme. You could have a movie star party, in which guests must dress as a celebrity, or a Love Sucks party, in which all the guests dress as vampires!

Remember, being single on Valentine”s Day can be fun: Take advantage of it and enjoy yourself!
