If your children are going trick-or-treating, make sure that at least one adult accompanies them. Fixing a curfew will ensure that your kids are not out too late.

Once your kids return from trick-or-treating, remember to go through and examine their candy before they eat it. Throw away any open, unwrapped, or otherwise suspicious looking treats.

If you have younger kids or would just rather not have your kids trick-or-treat in the neighborhood, there are alternatives to trick-or-treating. Malls and retail stores often simulate the trick-or-treating experience for kids, giving away candy on Halloween during the early evening hours. You can also throw a Halloween party that will keep the fun inside, rather than on the street.
