4th Of July Survey

Recently, morefocus surveyed people”s feelings towards July 4th. About 1200 answered questions about the patriotism, the commercialism, and the fun surrounding July 4th.

Eighty nine percent of respondents believed that July 4th is one of America”s most important symbols of patriotism and 67 percent thought that the holiday should be taken more seriously since 9/11. However, although most people agreed that July 4th represents a solemn, patriotic celebration, 41 percent ironically also admitted that they view it as just a fun summer holiday.

Eighty percent of respondents thought that July 4th should be taken more seriously in general. In accordance with this overwhelming call to regard the holiday with a more sober air, 64 percent also agreed at least moderately that July 4th had lost its true meaning for Americans.

This survey found that Americans are indeed proud of their country and value celebrating its independence. For most respondents, July 4th is a fun, patriotic holiday that should carry a somber, respectful tone.
