While many of us know that vitamins are essential to staying healthy, fewer are aware of the other supplements that can benefit our health. In fact, our bodies won’t absorb certain vitamins if we don’t also take a particular mineral or supplement.

While traditional health supplements, including magnesium and selenium, have proven health benefits, there are a number of other herbs and minerals that can improve your health. For example, both green tea extract and shark cartilage have been proven to boost the body’s levels of antioxidants and reduce swelling. Over time, taking these health supplements can be effective in preventing certain types of cancer, as well as rheumatoid arthritis, respectively.
