Mind Body Connection Energy Healing

Energy Healing Image

Energy healing is an alternative form of medicine based on the principle that your energy flows more freely through your body when you are centered and grounded. Energy healers believe that pain, illness and other discomforts are caused by energy that is stuck in and unable to properly flow through your body.

Energy healers use one or more techniques to release the blockage and get energy flowing again. Some energy healers say that they can perceive blockages and imbalances through their intuitive ability to sense what’s happening inside a person’s body.

Energy Healing Techniques

Some of the various alternative therapies and healing techniques in healing energy medicine include:

  • aura awareness
  • chakra balancing
  • grounding
  • pranic healing
  • reiki
  • the Yuen method
  • therapeutic touch
  • vaastu.

Reiki Energy Healing

Reiki is the combination of two Japanese words, translated to mean “universal life energy”. This philosophy of healing aims at achieving an internal balance for the patient and endowing that person with more vitality and energy.

The healer’s role in Reiki is to conduct, through his palms, the universal life energy to the patient. The healer is not transmitting any of his own energy, only the universal life energy, which can never run out. With Reiki energy healing, the healer does not need to direct the energy: rather, the energy flows where it is needed automatically.

However, the energy flows at different speeds, depending on a number of factors, one of which is the patient’s willingness to accept change. While the energy is flowing into them, patients commonly describe feeling a sensation of coolness, tingles, throbbing or itchiness.

Pranic Healing

Prana, the Sanskrit word for “breath,” represents the life force or primordial energy. Pranic healing is an ancient art that uses this prana, or vital energy, to heal one’s whole body.

The goal of pranic healing is to transform and move energy inside the body to achieve harmony and balance. Pranic healers believe that diseases and other ailments can first be seen in the bio-electromagnetic field before they are transmitted into the body.

Pranic healers transmit energy through the energy centers, or chakras, on the palms of their hands to a patient’s bio-electromagnetic field, or aura. The aura absorbs energy and transmits it to organs and glands where healing is needed.

Therapeutic Touch

Therapeutic touch, another type of energy healing therapy within the realm of holistic health, also uses patients’ energy field, or aura. Energy healers massage the aura to restore obstructions, misalignments and imbalances in the person’s field of energy. In therapeutic touch, energy healers can transmit some of their own energy to the patient to achieve harmony and balance. In therapeutic touch healing, energy is also transmitted to patients through the healer’s chakras.

Therapeutic touch is not an ancient art; rather, it was founded in the 1970s by Dolores Krieger, Ph.D., R.N.

Healing Energy: To Believe or Not to Believe

One issue with the different forms of energy healing based on energy fields, or auras, is that there has never been any scientific proof substantiating the fact that these fields exist. Many believers, however, state that the laws of quantum physics support their case.

Perhaps, the most effective means of deciding whether or not you believe energy healing therapy works is to sign up for a preliminary session and experience firsthand whether it yields any positive results.
