Exercise Weight Loss Tips

It’s tough to begin–and stick to–an exercise plan, particularly if your goal is weight loss. The best exercising tips are those that promote healthy weight loss and encourage you to stick to your plan and work towards your goals. Here are our top four best exercising tips, which can help you formulate a successful exercise plan. Remember to speak with your doctor before starting a new exercise plan.

Tip #1: Find Weight Loss Exercises you Enjoy

You don’t have to spend all day in the gym on a machine to achieve healthy weight loss. Numerous opportunities exist for you to lose weight and enjoy yourself at the same time:

  • Fat-burning yoga and Pilates are low impact weight loss exercises that engage both the mind and the body.
  • If you’re a nature lover, try jogging or taking a brisk walk in the park. Walking on the beach is also a good choice, since the sand provides extra resistance.
  • Learn a sport you enjoy or listen to your favorite music while exercising. Dance exercises like salsa, disco, hip hop, belly dance and banghara–to name a few–allow you to burn calories while enjoying your favorite music and having fun.

Find a variety of weight loss exercises that you truly enjoy doing to prevent getting burned out or bored.

Tip #2: Focus on Small Goals

If you need to lose a lot of weight, don’t let the long road ahead discourage you. One of the best exercising tips is to focus on short-term, easily achievable goals to boost your self-esteem and keep you on track. Set goals for yourself such as losing 10 pounds, using the stairs instead of the elevator or exercising at home for 10 or 15 minutes each morning. Your success will encourage you to keep up the good work and move on to bigger goals.

Tip #3: Listen to Your Body and be Reasonable

One key to sustained, healthy weight loss is to listen to your body and have reasonable goals. Overdoing weight loss exercises can put your body at risk and discourage you from sticking to your plan.

Allow yourself rest days to recover from exercise. Don’t work out if you feel exhausted or sore. If the gym puts you off or is too expensive, exercising at home with purchased equipment or simply an exercise video may be a better choice.

Tip #4: Find a Workout Buddy

Having a partner to exercise with can make your workout time more enjoyable and help you stay on track. You and your exercise partner can encourage each other and keep each other accountable. Whether exercising at home or at the gym, having a friend join you can help you both stick to your plan and add the pleasure of socializing to your exercise regime.
